5 Ways to Repurpose Your Existing Content on LinkedIn

One of the main reasons that people hesitate to use LinkedIn is because they fear they don’t have enough time to create content for yet another platform.

And maybe you can relate…

You’re already posting on Instagram. You have an email list. You have a blog. Maybe a YouTube channel. And TikTok might even fall in there somewhere.

I get it! It can feel overwhelming to think about adding another platform to your plate.

But what if I told you that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel and you can use what you already have?!

Yep, it’s true!

If you’re already creating content everywhere else and you’ve been doing so for awhile, chances are that you already have more than enough of what you need to make LinkedIn a consistent part of your marketing game.

Here’s the top 5 ways that you can repurpose your existing content on LinkedIn:

  1. Turn Your Blog Posts Into LinkedIn Articles

If you already have a blog for your business, one of the best ways you can use those on LinkedIn is to turn them into LinkedIn Articles.

LinkedIn Articles are essentially LinkedIn’s version of a blog on their platform and the reason you want to repurpose your blog posts into these articles versus just posting your blog link in a post is because:

  1. LinkedIn doubles as a search engine
  2. You double down on someone finding you on Google

If you already have a blog on your website, you probably already know the importance of SEO (search engine optimization).

Well, LinkedIn has its own version of SEO within their platform, so if someone searches a keyword related to your LinkedIn Article, you’ll have a higher chance of populating.

PLUS, everything you post on LinkedIn is also indexed by Google, which means that if someone types your name or certain keywords into Google, your blog AND your LinkedIn article will populate.

This is a super powerful way to repurpose your content, so if you already have a blog, I can’t recommend this enough!

  1. Turn Tweets / Tweet Graphics into LinkedIn Text Posts

A common type of post that many people already create are tweets and tweet graphics.

These can very easily be repurposed on LinkedIn as regular text posts. Posts like this help you stand out as a thought leader in your industry and can draw in lots of engagement based on your audience.

If you don’t have the extra time to turn your tweets into text posts, you can use graphics like this with a short caption!

  1. Turn Any Existing Written Content Into a Video for LinkedIn

Like most platforms, video is becoming the type of content that is favored on LinkedIn. Though people do still engage with text posts, carousels and various graphics, it’s good to have a mix of all content types.

The videos you post on LinkedIn don’t have to be long and can really just be reiterated from content you’ve already written somewhere else.

For example, if you write a weekly email, you can take that content and turn it into a quick talking video to post on LinkedIn, sort of like I did here! The content for that video came from this blog post.

And the best part? The video can be casual. People love to feel like they’re truly connected to you and one of the best ways to do that is to show up as you are.

Sitting at your desk with your hair in a messy bun? Record a video. On your daily walk? Record a video. In the carpool line to pick up your kids from school? Record a video.

While there’s of course a time and place for more “professional” style videos with ring lights, microphones and fancy captions on the screen, the casual style tends to perform very well too, so don’t let that stop you!

  1. Share Short Quotes From the Book Your Currently Reading or a Podcast You’ve Listened To

As a business owner, you’re probably already reading or listening to some sort of personal development daily and there’s a good chance you’re taking notes on any key points that you want to remember.

If you’re already doing this, use your notes to create a short text post on LinkedIn. You can quote the author or the podcast host (and tag them!) and then add a few of your own thoughts as well.

Content like this subconsciously shows people what you value / believe because you’re sharing what type of content you take in. This can draw in your ideal audience and get people connected with you based on shared values and beliefs!

  1. Share a Story About a Recent Experience and Connect It To a Business or Life Lesson That People Can Relate To

Although this isn’t the type of content you probably think of when you hear “repurposing,” it can be one of the easiest types of content to create whenever you feel like you’re in a content rut.

As I’m writing this, it’s the end of January 2023 and it’s been a hard first month of the new year, so showing up on LinkedIn hasn’t been as easy as it usually feels.

Business owner or not, we all experience seasons like this and creating content can be one of the last things you want to do. If you’re in a season where it feels hard to show up, one of the best things you can do is to simply share a bit of your heart!

This doesn't mean that you have to air all of the parts of your life, but you can take one small thing that you’ve recently experienced and connect it to a life or business lesson that many can relate to.

My husband, Teddy Mitrosilis, did this so wonderfully in this post recently!

Even if you aren’t in a season where it’s hard to show up, sharing stories like this creates a deeper connection with people and makes them feel like they truly know you.

Here’s another quick example of this type of content in action.

Overall friend, there is a way you can show up on LinkedIn WITHOUT reinventing the wheel. Using content you’ve already created isn’t “cheating,” so if you’ve been holding onto that belief, here’s your permission to let that go and START with what you have!
